QR Codes for Directions and Location Sharing: Bring Customers to Your Shop with One Scan

Turn your map location link into a short link and a QR code so customers can find you easily. Tips for windows, business cards and invitations.

Customers finding you is the first step of a sale. Instead of explaining "where we are" by writing out an address, if you turn a map link into a QR code, customers reach directions with one scan.

In the map app you use, find your business or location and copy the link with the share option. The interface changes from app to app and over time; look for the share option on the location screen.

Why shorten it and turn it into a QR code?

  • Map links can be long; a QR code made from a short address scans more easily.
  • The short link’s click count shows how many people looked at directions.
  • With a separate link for each placement, you see which spot works best.

Where can you use it?

  • On business cards, brochures and invitations
  • On the shop window and sign (large enough to read from afar)
  • On the contact page of your website
  • On shipping and package cards
  • At fair and event stands

Tips for a good result

  • Write "Scan for directions" next to the code.
  • Test with a few different phones and confirm the right location opens.
  • If the address or location changes, prepare a new link and code and update the old materials.
  • Add your opening hours and phone number next to it.
